ELIO Motors

http://www.eliomotors.com/

The above is a 3-wheeled "car" that is supposed to get 84MPG highway and only cost $6,800 USD base price! IT is called ELIO. Apparently they lobbied around the USA to get this thing classified as a car so you won't need a motorcycle stamp on your license. I have been seriously considering getting one when they come out, granted they live up to their promise.

3D Printed Bionic Hand

Picture from: The Open Hand Project

Above is the Dextrus - developed by The Open Hand Project team. They have been working on a 3D printable hand design and posting their progress for anyone to download. They are now working on making drivers for the hand's electronics (that progress is also downloadable). The driver would be used in the LabView software platform. They have a model that does not need any electronics, so if you have a 3D printer, why not give this a try!

Invisibility Cloak

Straight out of a famous story book comes an interesting invention!
It is an invisibility cloak! Well... almost. The idea is there and it is getting closer to being what people want it to be, but right now it is in stages of infancy. Look at the picture to see what I mean.

What we have here is what I might call a "Chameleon cloak". It still shows off your figure, but it makes you look transparent, to a certain degree. As best seen in the above picture.

With that being said; I still want one!

Assembly Machine

New and Advanced Assembly Line Machine

I thought this prospect was interesting.
It is a machine that is able to move item about autonomously on assembly lines.
follow the link HERE.

Whats The Big Deal?

I was asking the same thing, until I found out that this robot was only $22,000 brand new and could work shoulder to shoulder with humans! Also the way the machine is programmed is pretty amazing, you grab it by the wrist and tell it what to do with a knob located on the arm.

This is a "big deal" because up to this point automated machines (Assembly Robots) cost upwards of $100,000 and need to be fenced off from personnel. Programming the machines is no picnic either!

One Day...

I am glad someone is making an affordable assembly machine, I could see myself owning one or two of these... eventually!
